Why do we need vaginal discharge if you remove your uterus?
Little kids need to have clean v@gs too. So why do we need it? even if we aren’t having sex
where does the discharge come from too? the ovaries?
if you remove the uterus there’s no period so… the discharge doesn’t have to clean it out… why would there be bacteria in a v@g tough? like bad kind. Their aren’t any bad ones in your ears or nose.
why does it need to self clean though? it’s already clean after you take a shower
i wipe, but what about guys? why don’t their uthera clean itself? urine is steral
you still have a vagina, and your vagina is a cleaning machine..
update: because your uterus and your vagina are different, vagina is at the entrance and when you use the bathroom there is bacteria and discharge is the bacteria and such that your body doesnt need
update: you still use the bathroom though? you dont shower after you use the bathroom every single time.
its the vagina’s way of cleaning itself and lubricating. discharge comes from glands inside the walls and from the cervix area
Discharge is what keeps your vagina clean and healthy.
It keeps a healthy pH and bacterial balance so it can fight off infection from foreign bacteria entering your vagina – your vagina is after all a major open orifice of your body, and the walls of your vagina give a direct route into your bloodstream so toxins from harmful bacteria can lead to blood poisoning. It flushes out excess bacteria, dirt and dead cells from inside your vagina.
When you shower you are just cleansing your vulva, the external part of your genitals, you’re not washing inside your vagina, and water cannot keep that healthy pH – the vagina is slightly acidic, this is part of how it stays clean as it helps kill off anything that shouldn’t be there…a shower can’t do that.
It also keeps vaginal walls moist – the walls of your vagina are mucosa, like skin but without the top protective layer, discharge acts like a barrier to keep dirt etc. out of the mucosa and to keep the mucosa moist so it doesn’t become dry and damaged. If it was to dry out it would eventually get chapped, ulcerated and may become an infected wound.
Without a uterus you still have a vaginal canal, they don’t sew up your vaginal opening, you still have sex too so discharge needs then to also function as lubrication so sex isn’t painful or damaging – damaged vaginal walls also increases STD risk, and can be generally uncomfortable.
Discharge comes from the vaginal walls, also from glands such as the bartholin’s glands, and from the cervix – which may be left in the vagina if a partial hysterectomy is done. Ovaries are part of the reproductive organs and have an effect on hormones in the body, hormonal changes do effect discharge throughout your menstrual cycle.
Women who have had a hysterectomy or who have gone through menopause do get dry vagina’s as they don’t have as much discharge due to changes in hormones, one reason why menopausal women are given hormonal treatments and vaginal creams. My mother was nice enough to quiz me on this when she went through menopause, despite hearing it all day from other women, I kind of wanted to shoot myself after hearing about her vaginal dryness…O_o
