Can a yeast infection cream hurt me?
I am not sure if I have a yeast infection because I have a slight odor and a discharge, but it isn’t like cottage cheese. It is white and thick though. Not sure if this is a yeast infection (not an std, just came from the dr). I wanted to buy yeast infection cream, but wasn’t sure if it would harm me if it turns out to not be an actual yeast infection.
Well with the itching, I had extreme itching before and during my period, but it stopped when it ended. Now, I have the discharge and odor. Can these symptoms come at different times or altogether at once for it to be a yeast infection?
It cant hurt you but you might want to go to the doctor and ask because they can tell you for sure. and if it is a yeast infection they can give you a little pill that you just take once and it will get rid of it.
You always have that chance of a reaction.
But to be safe talk to your doctor about it. (:
I prefer mine with Fritos.
An over-the-counter yeast infection cream, will not hurt you if it turns out you don’t have a yeast infection. Tyr it and if it doesn’t work, then it’s not a yeast infection. It sounds like one though.
no i doubt it’ll hurt you. why didnt you ask the doctor if it was a infection?
The one thing you have to know is if it is a yeast infection, it will be very itchy and it will burn. Have you been on anit-biotics for anything, if you have it probably is a yeast infection. If you have never had one you do need to see a DR to see if it is one and then you will use the medicine.
well actually yes it can u need to consult your doctor before using any cream of this nature as it can have serious side effects n u mite not even b infected so it wud b a waste of time check with your doctor to see if u have one n if its ok to use this cream but he/she will probably giv u a prescription
yes and no.
no, it will not cause any immediate bad reactions.
however, keep in mind that everyone has yeast in their vaginas. it only becomes a problem when things get off balance and the yeast overproduce in the area. any time you introduce anti-fungal medication, it will try to kill yeast. however, it may not kill it all. the surviving yeast may develop a resistance. then they will reproduce. if you are not careful and frequently use yeast infection creams when you do not need them, you may effectively help produce a population of resistant, hard-to-treat yeast in your vagina. this is why it is so important to see a doctor for your first infection.
that being said, many women swear by yogurt. it will not harm you, but has natural bacteria that overcome yeast. apply some plain, non-sugar-added yogurt to your genitals a couple times a day for a few days. it could work for you! (besides, OTC y.i. medications can be expensive, and you can get a little container of yogurt for less than $1).
however, it does NOT sound like you have a yeast infection. the biggest (and often only) symptom is itching. if you don’t have that, you unlikely have yeast. the discharge you describe sounds normal, and perhaps the odor is from sweat? if it is a mild and pleasant scent, it is normal.
Once shouldn’t harm you. Remember that it’s medicine and taken repeatedly could have effects from long term exposure that are not addressed in the usual rundown.
Bacteria
Various std’s
trichomonianis (sp?) usually sexual, sometimes naturally occuring
yeast (naturally occuring, sometimes sexually transmitted)
Condom or spermicide allergy
Can all cause itching, discharge, and discomfort.
If you use the yeast medication properly and the infection comes back, go back to the dr. Otherwise, you may have hit the nail on the head, but I can’t imagine why the gyn didn’t diagnose it at your appt.
YES I had an allergic reaction to monostat…..i didn’t think it could get any worse than the actual yeast infection..WRONG
The only danger in taking a yeast infection medicine if you don’t have one is building up a tolerance to the yeast infection cream.
This can be a problem because when you DO actually have an infection, the medicine will be less effective.
