I’ve just started doing the candida diet and I’m finding it really difficult to get alternatives to bread and my usual snacks.
Can someone tell me if Rye (ryevita crackers) and Rice Cakes are allowed on a candida diet? I’ve been scoffing them like mad!
Also, are potatoes allowed? There’s so much conflicting information out there that I really don’t know if I’m doing the right thing or not.
TIA.

Just follow the recommendations made by your medical doctor.
You did get diagnosed by a medical doctor didn’t you?
I’ve never heard of the Candida diet but in most diets that say no bread, crackers aren’t allowed either because they contain wheat. And as for the potatoes, I would stay away because they are high in starches and carbs. But you can probably have some rice cakes, but don’t go crazy, limit yourself.
Sorry i didn’t know but hope I’ve helped =]
Rice cakes and potatoes are not good on a candida diet.
The reason is because refined carbohydrates and starchy food (white flour, white rice, potatoes, etc) convert to sugar in your body. Sugar "feeds" candida and makes it grow out of control.
But Rye crackers are good for you because they’re made from whole grain.
Whole grain breads, crackers and food bars are good. Sweet potatoes or yams are good replacements for the potatoes on your candida diet.
p.s. my daughter loved rice cakes, too! But had to stop eating them after she went on a candida diet. Now she eats whole grain breads and snacks instead. Also, she found some spinach tortillas at the grocery store that she uses to make sandwich wraps. Maybe you can try those.
